GOH is seeking a dynamic and cross-functional Event Manager (EM) with strong leadership skills. We are looking for either an event manager with substantive experience managing operations and resources or a junior PM-level resource with substantive background in event logistics. The successful EM candidate will be capable and eager to serve as part of a management team and assist with managing the daily operations for multi-million dollar federal administrative and logistical support contracts. You must have experience creating floorplans, room assignments, and managing food and beverage plans; a familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, knowledge of technical equipment and the ability to assess audio/visual needs. In addition, the EM must possess a transferable skill set that can be applied to non-event related contracts in order to add value to the cross-functional position. You must be an excellent and strategic communicator with experience serving as a project team lead and client-facing point-of-contact on federal contracts.

Job Division: Event Logistics and Peer Review

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, CMP, and/or CGMP preferred but not required

Experience: At least 5 years of experience directly relevant to the position

Location: Arlington, VA and Washington, DC

Essential Functions: Manage government meetings with 50-500+ participants and assist the Project Manager with the management of all task orders and development of associated work plans and timelines. Plan and manage government meetings from concept to post-event; provide logistics planning and travel guidance for meetings; negotiate vendor agreements to ensure low cost and high-quality services; provide venue research and procurement based on customer program requirements; work closely with project team and vendors to ensure deliverables are met and build favorable relations for all stakeholders; manage communication with operational and technical teams to ensure meeting details and logistics align with customer needs; provide on-site support which may require overnight travel for 3-6 days up to 10 times per year; identify and formulate solutions for any venue and customer challenges; work with project managers to ensure customer needs are met while maximizing revenue; manage data entry, database analysis, and reporting.

Specific areas of expertise and experience include: 

  • Must have experience with event management and mobile application software, such as Cvent
  • Must be extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Strong customer service, written and oral communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced team setting
  • Web-based data entry and reporting
  • MS Office Suite – (Excel, Outlook, and Word proficiency)
  • Typing speed of 45 WPM or above
  • Effective collaboration and communication with team members
  • May be required to travel for 3-5 days up to 10 times per year
